Owners of upcoming  iPhone  and iPads could enjoy a boost in graphics power 20 times greater than that offered by current models, according to enthusiast site  AppleInsider . Such a leap in power would come courtesy of new graphics processing units developed by U.K.-based Imagination Technologies, which builds the GPUs for Apple's mobile products. Announced at CES  on Tuesday, Imagination's new PowerVR Series6 GPU core chip family is touted as providing 20 times or more of the performance of the current generation. Not everyone knows (or cares about) the finer points of technology. Many are happy just to discover that their phone works and that they know how to work it. The promise is seductive. Two of the biggest technology companies on the planet are combining forces to give their adoring fans free iPads and iPhones? Yes! And all you have to do is give up all your personal information for that chance.  That's what spam scammers are hoping you will do once you see the quasi-personal letter from everyone's favorite friend networker, Mark Zuckerberg. The e-mail will come off as somewhat legit, singling you out as a randomly selected winner of a one-time only promotional event sponsored by Facebook and Apple. So, you've already won a free  iPad  or  iPhone , but there's a catch. Mark Zuckerberg just needs your e-mail address, phone number, and other account information to confirm. And of course, the site that Zuckerberg chooses to use to acquire that information is not Facebook, but a random promotional company. The Ion Audio iCade Mobile will retail for $79.99 when it comes out in May (click to enlarge). Tired of playing games with virtual buttons on your  iPhone ? Well, a few companies, including Ion Audio, are making Bluetooth game controllers that work with the iPhone and  Android  smartphones. We got a chance to play around with the Ion iCade Mobile ($79.99) and found that it worked well enough (yes, those are shoulder buttons on top). That said, Steve Jobs would probably cringe at its design. The shiny black plastic is a fingerprint magnet and the whole contraption isn't terribly elegant. True, we were using an early version of the device, so we may see some refinements before launch in May. When it does ship this spring, iCade Mobile is supposed to work with around 100 games (no, not all games will be compatible with it--far from it). The technical hurdle preventing the  iPhone  from coming to T-Mobile USA could be cleared when the next iteration comes out. That's the opinion of Neville Ray, chief technology officer of T-Mobile, who said he believes the iPhone never made it to T-Mobile because of the unique band of spectrum, known as AWS, that it uses for its wireless network. T-Mobile has been left out in the cold as the other national carriers--and regional carrier C-Spire--have begun selling Apple's hit device. CEO Philipp Humm, speaking at a press conference at the Consumer Electronics Show today, admitted the lack of the iPhone has hurt its ability to retain subscribers, particularly high value contract ones known as postpaid.
